The Continental opened its doors in 1986 by Executive Chef Robert “Bob” Hassinger and his wife Joan. Bob's background includes holding the Executive Chef position at the Plaza Hotel and the Tuxedo Country Club in New York, as well as the Royal Palm Yacht Club in Florida. In addition Bob has received numerous awards in the U.S. and Europe.
The restaurant has long been a family affair and, over the course of time, many friends have been made. We've even been known to host a few weddings. As the years have passed, so have some of the traditional outlines of the restaurant. Begun as a fine dining establishment, the restaurant has witnessed its share of changes over the years. From the economic boom of the mid 90's to the recession that we're all coping with today, management has seen it all and with that have adjusted to meet the needs of its patrons. What this has evolved in is a place where fine dining meets casual dining, where patrons can share a signature meal served on linen tablecloths with friends without having to compromise the element of enjoyment found in similar environments. It is a place where the flannel shirt is just as welcomed as the suit and tie, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Change has also opened doors to the concept of live entertainment on Fridays as we host the very unique "Blues Gate Jams". This is an open jam session that varies between acoustic and plugged versions.
In addition the restaurant is available to host private parties and limited off-premises catering. We offer areas for non-smoking and smoking alike, and open our patio for more fun in the warm months.
So, if you're looking for a relaxed, quiet evening out without the hassle of changing your identity, give us a try. Hopefully you too will be added to that long list of friends. |
